My sense is that in our collective pursuit of getting ahead fast, we have fast food, fast learning, fast cars, precooked food - but are we really savouring life this way? The pandemic busted so many of those myths and even forced us to slow down. I think so many of us are exploring the connection between slowing down, being present and savouring our experiences 🌼🌸
After I finished art school, I traveled for a year in the mid 90s, no internet, no iPhone - and my entire journey can be traced through my sketchbooks starting with Paris and sketches of paintings from place to place - and I learned to slow down and feel the space between the branches of the trees as I was drawing them. This era of my life is a return to that pace as much as I can. I’m travelling in India the next 2 weeks and looking forward to really taking it all in.
I love this. I have a program for midlife women that involves about a 6 month commitment. Slow. Mindful. Compassionate not self aggressive. It’s a tough sell. But this approach is how you create authentic growth. Thanks for the moral support.
Comparison? Our circle of influence is global now. Which, a few generations ago, was not the case. It's part of our natural human wiring to try and keep up. Falling behind from the tribe was traditionally life threatening.

@Gitanjali Koppikar spot on. It is the fast food analogy.
I love your use of the word savouring. It really adds to the enjoyment of slowing down ❤️

It feels so aligned with what I believe. It begs the bigger question why we often don’t allow ourselves time?

Wow- I’d never even considered that angle but it makes so much sense! Thank you 🙌🏻
